Formation History:
The journey began in 1977 when the late Francis Aidoo – Tssf, fell gravely ill and was admitted to the Obuasi Anglo Gold Hospital. He slipped into a coma for several months and underwent various transformations during this period. The culmination of his struggle came when he was on the brink of being pushed into a deep pit, only to be rescued by children whom he believed to be angels, as he was about to meet his end. Carried away by these "angels," he miraculously regained consciousness, experienced rebirth, and found healing and salvation. Grateful for being saved from death, he sang the Ancient and Modern Hymn 223.
Following this profound experience, he made a commitment to his family, declaring that henceforth, on the first day of each new year, he would hold a celebration for children as an expression of gratitude and a sacrifice to God Almighty, thus marking the inception of his charitable endeavours. After decades of unwavering dedication to both the church and the village, he retired from his roles in the church and the Bekwai traditional council at the age of 80. Tragically, his beloved wife, with whom he had ten children, passed away during their retirement. Subsequently, Mr. Francis Aidoo-Tssf relocated from his village (Asante Bekwai) to Kumasi, where he resided with his children. After five years, his eldest son, Emmanuel, urged him to fulfil his duty by moving the elderly gentleman to Obuasi, where he eventually passed away at the age of 102. In his later years, he played a pivotal role in establishing three enduring organizations. He was instrumental in co-founding Premier Aidoo College in Kumasi and FREVAC Minerals in Obuasi. Additionally, he resurrected a dormant charity foundation, now known as the NAS Foundation in Asante Bekwai, assuming various leadership roles within the organization. Remarkably, even at 101 years old, he retained the ability to write, read, and calculate proficiently.
Francis at 80:
Francis was known for his unwavering commitment to his faith, never attending church without making an offering and consistently extending charity to the less fortunate, especially the elderly. People from Bekwai and later from Obuasi flocked to his shop, residences, and church seeking his blessings, which often included gifts of cash and food. In 2017, when he was advanced in age, Francis reached out to his eldest son, Emmanuel, expressing his desire to revive the charity event and expand its scope to include the elderly aged 70 and above. The festivities were reinvigorated with an array of activities such as bible quizzes, social gatherings, financial donations, health assessments, and contributions, which have continued to this day. Notably, Mr. Aidoo Francis - Tssf, motivated all his children, in-laws, and grandchildren to actively participate in the new organization, embodying a life reminiscent of St. Francis of Assisi.
